Today's Featured Info

The Orient Pear,
is good for cooking as well as having great landscape value as a flowering spring tree. The trees grow huge, as do the fruits. The Orient pear ripens in August, having the reputation of being the heaviest bearing pear tree. Not to be confused with Asian pears, the Orient is a domestic variety named because of its large round shape that is similar to that of Asian pears. The Orient pears have yellow skin with smooth textured, sweet, firm, juicy, white flesh. It is resistant to fire blight and is a heavy producer in August.
